True Grit...this Christmas

OK,

Some will not go to see this movie. Especially, those who still think of John Wayne as King of the Cowboys. And yes, he did win an Oscar for this movie in 1969. It was a well rounded cast with too go to be true country singer Glen Campbell and the young Kim Darby. Of course, John Wayne was the main reason everyone went to see this movie. And he was getting old and well, it was like a last farewell of sorts.

Well, Jeff Bridges is getting old and he takes the place of the one-eyed cocky 'rooster' cogburn in the film. And its a Cohen brothers film. So you know what that means. It ain't the western it used to be.

I saw the preview over the weekend and can hardly wait for the film this Christmas. It is truly going to be gritty. And it really got you excited with Johnny Cash singing in the background, one of his infamous songs.

Of course, some are still shocked that Matt Damon would have the Glenn Campbell part. But I must say, he's looking all 'reinactor' in the saddle. While Josh Brolin plays the killer cow hand they are tracking down. But none of this would be happening if it wasn't for newbie Hailee Steinfeld who plays the young Mattie Ross who has to get this posse together to track down her father's killer. From the previews, she looks as is she'll be one to watch for in the next few years. She is from the series Sons of Tuscan. She was also in the TV movie Summer Camp as well as the short lived TV series, Back to you.

I think she will be a plus in the film. There aren't too many westerns made these days. So if you love them, or you are a Cohen brother fan. I'm sure this will be on your list. But for those John Wayne fans, I'm sure they won't want to see this film.

A Young Guns moment.
